I've always had a burning desire to travel to Europe mostly because I was born in Germany forty-some years ago. My father was in the Navy, and stationed in different places throughout Europe. It was a great opportunity for my mom because her family is from France and Denmark.

It was a short three years after I was born when my parents, two older brothers and I moved back to the United States. Aside from photographs that were taken, and hearing my family reminisce, I have no recollection of Europe. While doing research for this website, one of my life-long questions has finally been answered... "Where did I get my name, Lauraleigh?" There she was, a statue of a woman, carved from a rock on the mouth of the Rhine River in Germany, "the Loreley".

My grandparents moved to the United States and I am grateful I was able to get to know them when they lived in the Napa area of California. I believe they moved there because it reminded them of the beautiful countryside in France and Germany.

I hope you enjoy the website as much as I did creating it. As my Danish Gramps used to say in his broken English: "Next time, come when you can't stay so long" (he never could get the language straight). I believe what he meant was... come, stay as long as you like and just enjoy!

my best to you!
Lauraleigh
